Ceramics for radiation therapy equipment

 High-quality aluminium[ oxide ceramics from Kyocera are used in devices that enable state-of-the-art precision techniques in medical radiation therapy to treat cancer. Radiation systems can be as large as an entire building complex or small enough to use right in an operating room setting to treat breast cancer or brain tumours. We design customer-specific components to meet the many different requirements that apply in this field.  

Ceramic is especially useful for this field of application in that the direction of the radiation through rapidly changing magnetic fields is not affected due to the dielectric properties. The fact that the material can be soldered with various metals makes it possible to achieve a high-vacuum tight connection with the metal component assemblies involved. Our high-performance material’s low outgassing rates allow for use in high vacuum environments.
